Re: qCANUPO (classifier files, etc.)

Hi, indeed Canupo only uses geometric informations at various scales (our team is working on a more generic version using any kind of attribute, including intensity, but it's not ready yet). I've already used Canupo to roughly classify rock outcrop separating gravel beds from loess material (I've a ...

Re: Xeon processors only using 1/8 of there capabilities

I have dual-xeon workstation (2 years old version) under windows 7, and CC systematically uses all the threads (28) available when it can, and has been doing so for quite some time.

Are you under Linux ?

Re: Some bugs, improvment and futur idea for my favorite point cloud software

Hi Remi, very nice list of suggestions. 2 remarks : . The future of Canupo: we're actually working with a PhD student and colleagues at IRISA on a multi-scale/multi-scalar field/multi-class classifier using random forest, and this will hopefully end up in CC at some point as a plugin. . I completely...

Re: Building extraction using qCANUPO

have you tried filtering out the ground from the building using the RGB info ? Otherwise, try again to create a new classifier in CANUPO to separate ground from buildings that encompasses scales larger than your buildings...but it won't be perfect... Another way that I'm using from time to time : . ...

Re: Calculate Distance between Polyline and Point cloud

Quick trick that may work without a polyline: . Create a raster of your point cloud using the Z direction, using the min elevation and "spatial resampling option" at a grid size commensurate with your problem (e.g., 0.5 m for a glacier face should be ok). His should create a "dummy&qu...

No global shift info when creating a polyline from the scissor tool

hi Daniel,

all is in the title: with version 2.9beta (from may, but I don't know if there was this problem before), when you save the polyline generated with the scissor tool, the global shift info of the cloud used to create the polyline is not transferred. It stays at (0,0,0).

Cheers

Re: qCANUPO (classifier files, etc.)

Hi Lena, to evaluate the quality of your classifier you need to apply it on a dataset that you have manually labelled (and not your training dataset). Once you have applied your classifier on all your data, you extract only class1 from the Canupo classification. From this dataset you extract the two...

Re: Building extraction using qCANUPO

Hi Ashgar, Canupo use geometric characteristics that do not consider the orientation with respect to the vertical direction. Hence, with the classifier you used, a roof is very similar to ground: it's flat ! Building walls would be also flat. To resolve this I see 2 paths: . do not use Canupo, but u...

Re: issue with C2C on large airborne lidar lines

Strange.

Ok, I'll prep some data (they tend to be quite big ;-) that reproduces the problem.

Re: issue with C2C on large airborne lidar lines

No need to hurry, by specifying the octree level I can manage, and I suppose it doesn't happen very often.

Cheers
