Re: M3C2 core points and direction of distances/normals
@Daniel, thanks a lot for clarifying that. There's one more question about .bin file of M3C2 distance. Today when I reopened M3C2 distance.bin file for my project, there was a shift/translation in the coordinates of the point cloud compared to the original point cloud (see fig. below). So I'm why if...

Re: M3C2 core points and direction of distances/normals
@Daniel thanks a lot for the reply. in Question (2), by net distance I mean the total distance between the two points and not their X, Y, Z components. like d = sqrt(dx^2 + dy^2 + dz^2). C2C algorithm provides four distances if "split (X, Y, Z) components" option is checked i.e. total/net ...

M3C2 core points and direction of distances/normals
Hi Daniel and Dimitri, I'm using M3C2 plugin to compare a series of point clouds, and so far I've been satisfied with M3C2 results compared to C2C. I should mention that I read the corresponding publication in which M3C2 algorithm was applied to the Rangitikei canyon point clouds. However, I have a ...

Re: Precision of Segment and Merge Operations
1) Yea, these are certainly the borderline effects. I'm wondering if these are due to edge artifacts induced by segmentation and merging without employing a suitable buffer? Is there an option in cloud compare to segment point clouds or surfaces with buffer? 2) They are the exact same points. In sec...

Re: Precision of Segment and Merge Operations
Hi Daniel! 1) Please look at the first Figure below and notice the three horizontal lines. That's where I segmented my point cloud (into 3 parts) for classification. After classification when I merged the three parts back together I got these lines representing vegetation. Is there a way to avoid th...

Precision of Segment and Merge Operations
Hi Daniel! I segmented (or split) a large point cloud (100 million points) into 10 segments (8 to 12 millions each) to avoid crashes during CANUPO and M3C2 computations, and then merged them back together. I'm not sure if cloudcompare employs a buffer during segmentation or splitting, so I was wonde...

Re: qCANUPO (classifier files, etc.)
Hi, @uasghar. For bare-earth extraction, there is another option. You may try new CSF plugin. (see http://www.danielgm.net/cc/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1724 ) Hope to see your comparison of qCANUPO and CSF. I guess qCANUPO should be better, because it uses more information to classify ground a...

Re: qCANUPO (classifier files, etc.)
Daniel and Dimitri, I've been able to improve my classifier so that now I over 90% of the ground points in the toe part (as mentioned in previous comment) get classified into bare earth. I should thank you guys again for creating something like this and making it opensource. The next step for me is ...

Re: qCANUPO (classifier files, etc.)
Dear @Daniel and @Dimitri, I've classified a very large photogrammetry based point cloud (approx. 280 Million points) using qCANUPO. I constructed my own classifier using trial and error in Train Classifier and I really take this opportunity to thank you guys for your work, especially because you've...
