Re: [2.8 Beta] Waveform feature

Hi,

the waveform features are developed by Daniel in collaboration with our department (and actually funded by us), but this is still very preliminary and currently under development. If you're interested in collaborating or contributing, get in touch with me (and cc Daniel).

Re: compare clouds for deformation-analysis

Hi, Which sensor and the setup did you use ? Does the sensor has a compensator and was it activated ? Did you use a metallic or a wood tripod (or even better, a concrete pilar) ? What was the ground made of ? For instance, a metal tripod will have significant thermal expansion (with respect to the d...

Re: qCANUPO (classifier files, etc.)

Hi, actually in the original command line version, for each classified point, we computed the slope (or dip) using the largest scale of the classifier. It was really useful to automatically filter out afterwards data for near horizontal or vertical structures (building, roads, river banks vs river b...

Re: M3C2 core points

Hi, core points is not solely to define an average point cloud position, but it's to compute distance with a sampling that the user can define as he wishes: either a minimum distance sampling, or using a grid of core points (e.g., rasterize cloud #1). Core points only tells you where you do your dis...

Available PhD Funding in Rennes University of Rennes, for lidar classification

Hi, we have a phd project co-supervised by lidar specialists (CNRS Rennes environmental sciences) & machine learning/image processing researchers (IRISA, Research Institute on Computer Sciences and Random Systems). The project is called "MASSIV RIVER: Classification of massive 3D airborne t...

Re: Parameters M3C2

Hi, the Guess parameters should be used very carefully. It's here to have a set of parameters that would make the plugin run, but they are certainly not optimized. I don't fully understand all aspects of your problem. For the normal and projection scale, it's not really about the number of points, b...

Re: Assigning scalar values from one point cloud to another

Hi Daniel,

I think there's also the function implemented in qCanupo when you apply the classification result from core points to the point cloud.

Cheers

Re: Nasty display bug with saturation cursor

Hi Daniel, yes, this one seems tricky. Changing the saturation by changing the value is ok (but I didn't do it for 5 minutes ;-)). Maybe it's an issue with Qt itself or some drivers on my card...? Cheers and thank you for having look into this. Anyone else had this problem, or I'm the only one ? Dim...

Nasty display bug with saturation cursor

Hi Daniel, I've had this issue since about 2.6.2: when I change the saturation triangle with the mouse back and forth, at some point cloudcompare crash (it seems to be especially the case on large clouds > 40 millions points). It seemed apparently random, but was really annoying when you had 500 mil...
