M3C2-Coordinate System

Post by mlc183 »

Hello,
Thanks for developing such a useful software and for answering questions!
I am using M3C2 to difference point clouds of a river gravel bar at two different times. My point clouds have a real coordinate system (NAD83 Oregon North International ft). When I import them into CC I allow the program to adjust itself to local coordinates. Then I align the two clouds using the equivalent point pair method. Then I run M3C2. The results of M3C2 shows the change between the two clouds and produces a histogram with values, which I can then see on the color bar next to my model. My questions are:
1) What are the units on the color bar (the units of change that are being reported)?
2) Are those units reflective of the coordinate system even though I allowed the program to transfer to local coordinates?

For example: If the change reported is 0.10. Then is that equivalent to 0.10 ft?

Thank you for your time!

Yes, the original units are always preserved. The Global Shift or the registration process don't change them. So it should be feets indeed.
