Solid properties from .stl mesh : volume, gravity-center, inertia-matrix

Post by david_thivet »

Dear Daniel,

Best 2018 wishes to you and all the contributors.

Cork libraries focused on .stl mesh boolean operation were integrated to CloudCompare.
note : several test done using very big mesh show algorithm efficiency and

1/ Does any respective CloudCompare command line exist to launch cork boolean op ?
2/ Further need would be to get resulting .stl mesh solid properties : volume, gravity-center coordinate, inertia matrix.
3/ Extended opening for "non programming skilled people" would be the possibility to launch boolean op calculation
from an excel vba macro and get the resulting solid properties inside the excel sheet.

Please advice in case other way to get similar result already exist.
With best regards.

Hi,

No, the plugin is not accessible via the command line. It could be (I mean technically), but no one has instrumented the plugin so as to enable this.

Note that the 'Cork' plugin is based on a third-party project that can be compiled as a standalone command line tool.
