PTX import problem

Post by kachlica »

I have problems with import of .PTX files with large coord (eg. UTM). In case one is dealing with .PTS, there is no problem, By the import I get the message about the necessity to move date closer to 0,0,0 origin togethet with suggested transformation matrix.
But by importing of .PTx file i get no message and no transform matrix option at all and after import is completed, part of the data is vanished,

I have no option to get to the source data a i have just these .PTX :(

Well, that's odd but it's possible if the 'shift' is in the transformation matrix (a case we haven't thought of apparently ;).

Can you share a sample file with me (cloudcompare [at] danielgm.net)?

This way I'll be able to patch the code and issue a new beta version.

Ok, that's fixed!

You'll find the corresponding beta version here:
(edit: link removed)

I've improved the PTX loader a little by the way (I've fixed a memory leak, the cancel button is 'smarter' and I now create the sensor objects associated to each scan).

I am not sure why but I can only import ptx files into 2.5.4. They crash on import in 2.5.5 or the provided link for 2.5.6.

The previous poster couldn't because its files were too big... And I can't reproduce the bug on my side with the few PTX files I have on my side.

They are like 1 gb files so I was thinking size may be an issue, but when I open in 2.5.4 save as bin then open in newer version it works fine. I can email you a download link, what address to send it to?
