To prevent CloudCompare from filling holes automatically when creating a mesh from a point cloud, you typically need to adjust the parameters or settings in the mesh generation process


I attached here pointscloud example with a small hole in its top, I can not adjust the parameters to generate ...

If I cancel meshing by Poisssonrecon , it appears again showing "reconstruction in progress"

In many cases, adjusting the parameters or settings in the mesh generation process does not help

for example, can we generate a mesh with a side hole in the attached pc example

If you can not manage by using "Density' output", You can use segment tools to open a hole in the mesh.
Also, You can edit in Blender 3D software

2.5d volume has limitations
Please check the attached example where 2.5d volume fails because 2 z levels in the same pointscloud
real volume=2.964 cubic units

Most of the time, but not all the cases, optimum volume and area is when % of matching cells is close to % of shape area to area of containing rectangular (min x min y, max x max y)

To find real 3d shaped area ,you can mesh it and then use measure surface
edit -->mesh-->measure surface

yes, it is a projected area, not 3d shaped area
