Oculus Rift S

Hello,
I am trying to use the Oculus Rift S with cloudcompare and having trouble viewing the pointcloud in the VR environment. I found this thread from 2016 with a similar issue but I'm not receiving the error they mention (http://cloudcompare.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1962). Same deal as in the post I linked, the Oculus software runs fine (Oculus App Version 1.38.0.250171), CloudCompare runs fine on its own (version 2.10.2 stereo). But I can't figure out how to initialize viewing the point cloud in 3D on the Oculus headset. All I can do is view the 2D desktop in the 3D Oculus environment (See attached screenshot). I'm running Windows 10 education version 1809 (OS Build 17763.529).

I don't care if the handsets work, I can use the mouse, I would just like to view the pointcloud in 3D on the headset. Does anyone know how to initialize this?

Thanks!

What error do you get (in CloudCompare's Console) when you try to activate the stereo mode? (the reg and blue glasses icon in the bottom left part)

Any update on this? I would like to try my Oculus Shift S on CC too. The first thing I observed is the need for a GPU which does quad render buffering. But I'm in doubt if the Rift S would work or if it only works on the Oculus Rift version.
Thanks Danial for all your work!

I am not aware of any work that has been done to make the recent oculus devices compatible with CloudCompare sadly...

Thanks for the reply Daniel! I'm currently working on my master thesis and I'm trying to use a few different option to of point cloud VR annotation tools. I believe that CC would be a great one for the tests I would like to make. Could you recomend me which scripts to start working on the git repo to try to update de CC stereo to other oculus rigs (like quest 2 or rift S, which are the ones I have) and other graphic cards other than QUAD family?

Well, we don't support Oculus headsets anymore, but we did in the past, so it's technically feasible (you may want to refer to the commit where it was removed: https://github.com/CloudCompare/CloudCo ... 779155d557).

If you manage to make it work again with the most recent SDK, and even with other GPUs, we will gladly welcome the contributions.
